WHITE-BELLIED BUSTARD (Eupodotis senegalensis) – (See images below)
The Whie-Bellied Bustard is a common large bird of grasslands in Africa south of the Sahara. It is about 60 cm (2 ft.) high, which puts it at the lower end for the size of a bustard. The male has a black band from front to back on the head, a shorter black band extending under the eye from the bill, and another black band across the throat. The rest of the head is white, the neck grey and the back light brown. The under parts are whitish. The bill is red with a dark tip, and the legs are light beige. Females have duller colors.
Bustards are large birds of the steppes and drylands, with long legs made for running, which they do more than flying. They are omnivorous.
